Abigail Reynolds lives in St Just, Cornwall, and has a studio at Porthmeor in St Ives. She studied English Literature at St Catherine’s College Oxford University and an MA in Fine Art at Goldsmiths College, University of London.
In March 2016 Abigail was awarded the BMW Art Journey prize at Art Basel, to travel to lost libraries along the Silk Road. Her book Lost Libraries documenting this journey was published in 2018. In March 2022 she self-published two books: Tre, to coincide with the completion of a large-scale public commission at Kresen Kernow – Cornwall’s archive in Redruth, and Flux alongside her solo exhibition of the same name at Kestle Barton gallery.
Much of her work starts with a fascination with books and the libraries where they are housed; it investigates how books, and the images therein shape our shared perception of places, landscape, and identities. In turn the production of books as part of her practice creates new narratives.
